7 Tips For Dealing With Rain On Your Wedding Day

Rain on your wedding day is never ideal, but often it can be inevitable, depending on your location and the time of year. Unfortunately, mother nature cannot be controlled, but we’ve come up with 7 tips for dealing with rain on your wedding day and ideas for how to embrace it.

Try and prepare

If your wedding ceremony and reception are both outdoors, it’s a good idea to have tents on hold. A good rule of thumb is to be checking the weather every day leading up to your wedding, if it’s pouring the day before, just assume it will on the day as well and have your tent set up ready to go. Best case scenario, it doesn’t rain and you have an extra tent, worst case it pours and you’re prepared!

Make it cozy

Provide your guests with rainy day accessories! Think blankets, hot chocolate, umbrellas etc. It’ll give your photographer cute photo opportunities to catch people cuddling up under a blanket or sipping on hot cocoa.

Embrace the photo opportunities

Rainy day photos are the best! No squinting into the glaring sun or sweating through your clothes, just perfect lighting and cozy photos. Consider bringing some classic clear umbrellas along for your wedding party portraits as well as bride and groom photos, you won’t regret it!

Let guests know

Chances are, your guests are not as concerned about the weather at your wedding as you are, if possible, let them know ahead of time that there’s a chance the weather will be less than perfect and ask them to dress accordingly.

Plan hair and makeup accordingly

Let’s face it, if it rains on your wedding day, you’re bound to get a little wet, regardless of how prepared you are. You know your hair best, choose a style you think would look okay with a little extra moisture, or one that will dry well. Planning your hair around the weather is not ideal, but sometimes must be done.

Don’t stress about it

I know it’s hard, but weather is one of the only things about your wedding day that you cannot control. Our advice? Focus on being as prepared as possible and spending your time and energy on other aspects that are within your control.

Make the best of it

This is your wedding day! Try not to focus on the weather and just enjoy your day, rain or shine! Either way, you’re marrying your best friend and we are so happy for you!
