Louisiana Backyard Wedding

“A sky full of stars and he was staring at her.” – atticus

So much can be said about love. You read about it novels, you watch it portrayed in movies, you hear about it in stories. But when you see it in person, when you witness it… It changes something within you. You become something you weren’t before: happy, motivated, hopeful. When you witness two people who without a doubt love from the deepest parts within themselves, you know it’s truly something to be admired.

Aaron and ourselves work together often, and have been for several years now. Aaron, co-owner and videographer at Apercu Films, has worked side by side with us for so many weddings over the years, and we’ve always admired his kindness and genuine nature. At one of our weddings a couple of years ago while taking a small break, Aaron began talking about this beautiful and talented girl that he was “smitten for”, as he put it. He leaned over and showed us a photo of Joi, this beautiful girl who had already taken his heart, and she was indeed beautiful. Fast forward a couple of years and we finally got the privilege of meeting Joi. We immediately began to see all the things Aaron was captivated by: her kindness, her beauty inside and out and her happiness, the very meaning of the name she possessed. The moment we found out Aaron and Joi were engaged, we were so elated for them, as it was clear they were perfect for each other.

Throughout the wedding day, both Joi and Aaron were so extremely laid back and accommodating for everyone who came to help out with setting up the wedding that day. We arrived to each of their getting ready locations separately and hung out with them while they both prepared for the biggest and most memorable day of their lives. We were just blown away at how much work Joi put into making her own wedding dress (yes, she MADE her own dress. Like, wow. Pure talent). From the beginning of the day to the ceremony, dodging rainclouds mid-afternoon, the post-ceremony portraits taken in a field behind a gas station in New Iberia, LA down to the reception in the backyard of Joi’s parent’s home, this day was theirs, and it was perfect in every way.

This wedding was one we’ll never forget, and one we’ll always be grateful to be a part of. Thanks again guys for having us. You both bring out so many beautiful things in each other and we are excited to see what the future holds for you, together.

Here’s to love and all the beautiful things it carries with it.
