Engagement sessions should be about celebrating the life you’ve created with the one person you want to grow old with.

Lizzy and Christiaan understand that and value it. When discussing logistics for the engagement session with them both, the mention of them taking pictures in their home surfaced and we did backflips inside. Never discount your home. It is always where we are our most comfortable, relaxed and our personalities shine. Lizzy and Christiaan welcomed us into their lives and their home. When we arrived, we were greeted with the biggest smile and fastest tail wagging by their sweet puppy, Olive, who occasionally dropped in to say hello every so often for a photo. To start things off, they showed off their record collection, even putting on some sweet melodies, and chatted with us about music for a while and Christiaan’s band, Brass Bed. Lizzy was ecstatic to show off her bookshelf ladder that she likes to climb and read books on while Christiaan puts on a record. After spending some time admiring their super cool bookshelf (great job decorating it Lizzy!) we moved into their kitchen where they began their daily ritual of Christiaan making french press coffee and Lizzy keeping her hands warm from the cup, once finished.

We spent most of our time that evening meeting all of the furry friends waiting for us at her mother’s beautiful property, including Biscuits the mischievous stray kitty they happily adopted. We ended on a high, watching the sun set over the trees and playing ball with Olive as the night fell. What a day.

We clicked with these two and hope to meet more couples who value life as a couple, even the little things, and those who let life happen, since those are the best memories to look back on.
