Wedding in an Art Museum | Lizzy and Christiaan
“Love you forever and forever
Love you with all my heart
Love you whenever we’re together
Love you when we’re apart.” – The Beatles
Love has no limits. It is boundless. Love is raw, deep, certain. In all the years of watching love grow between human beings, we have never seen it’s presence and power displayed between two people as much as Lizzy and Christiaan.
Over the past months of getting to know them, we grew to admire so many of their qualities. Their positivity, love and energy is infectious, and you can’t help but want to be friends with these guys. When Lizzy sent us their video Save The Date in months past, our appreciation for their values deepened even more.
Lizzy and Christiaan’s story starts way back in their younger years, where they met on the school bus in 1998. Over the years, their lives and careers took them to separate places, Lizzy finding herself in art and Christiaan on tour with his band Brass Bed, but as love always does, it brings people back together again when you least expect it. Fast forward to now, these two are now spending forever together.
The two decided after much thought to have their wedding held at Acadiana Center for the Arts here in Lafayette, LA. But here was the twist: they wanted to have their ceremony held in the art museum itself. This posed a small problem for those who were having their art displayed in the gallery, as some copyright laws prohibit any artwork being photographed, unless allowed by the artist themselves. Thankfully, there was an artist kind enough to allow their work to be photographed while being displayed, so on with the wedding in the art museum we went. And the theme of the artwork, “Apocalypse Now” posed for a wonderfully unique background for the days festivities.
Lizzy prepared for the evening’s events at her mother’s home, nestled in a quiet and quaint part of the Lafayette area, while Christiaan got ready right next door. They had their first look (always a great idea) in her mother’s front yard. Shortly after, it was off to ACA we went.
The ceremony held was nothing short of beautiful and the reception to follow was held with laughs, tears of joy and good times. After spending some time with family and friends after the reception’s formalities, we pulled the two aside for some fun photos of them alone, walking through the art gallery looking at every piece with admiration.
It’s rare to see two people love each other throughout their years of growing up, and despite the odds of life taking them in different directions, their love bringing them back together and outweighing them all at once. Lizzy and Christiaan, your affection for each other is a rarity. And we hope this blog displays even a fraction of that.
Here’s to finding each other in everything.
Here’s to a lifetime of finding one another.
